A first for India, Punjab ophthalmic surgeon introduces path-breaking surgery to cure Glaucoma

Chandigarh :  A major stride has been made in the field of ophthalmology - the medical specialty dealing with diseases of the eyes. Dr Varun Baweja, an ophthalmic surgeon from Punjab has introduced a revolutionary iStent technique to cure Glaucoma in the eyes, similar to cardiovascular stents. Dr Varun Baweja, a pioneer in the eye stent technique, is the first eye surgeon of India to get a certification from England for carrying out the iStent inject surgery. This eye surgery is used to treat Glaucoma disease, commonly known as ‘Kala Motia’. "The best thing about this path breaking surgery is that the patients get the same medical intervention sitting in India which normally is available abroad at a heavy  cost," said Dr Baweja, a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Baweja Multispeciality Hospital in Punjab's Roopnagar, near Chandigarh.     New Delhi : The Home Textile Exporters' Welfare Association (HEWA) whole heartily thanked the Modi Government for giving patient hearing to various woes of Indian Textile exporters that were brought to the cognizance of various ministries and govt departments by HEWA.   Chandigarh : Scores of class 12th and 10th topper students in Chandigarh tricity and thousands others in the country are reeling under despair as their names did not get any mention in the media reports. Though CBSE did not make a merit list for the 12th and 10th boards this year, a list was 'declared' by the newspapers on the basis of a compilation done by the reporters on the basis of results made available to them by different schools. The parents of such left out students have demanded the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to release a "Merit List of Class XII and X results" to remove the confusion amongst the media and public in general.
